NCAA Certified Event Requirements and Procedures

1. Coaches Approval Site - LexisNexis Application for Participant Approval - You will be asked to create a login. This site is to verify your background credential through the BBCS site.

If you applied for your BBCS and were:

Certified at any time during the year 2008 you will need to re-apply in 2010

Certified in 2009 you will need to re-apply in January 2011

Certified in 2010 you will need to re-apply in January 2012

1. Go to http://aasbasketball.com/

2. Click 2012 National Championship

3. Click "INCAA Compliance"

4. Click on "NCAA Coaches' Approval Program"

5. Click on New or Returning Applicant

6. Follow site directions

7. Choose a password and secret question that you will remember, and keep in your records. The approval process involves the following:

▪   Online application
▪   NCAA Rules test
▪   Criminal background check
▪   Payment ($40 prior to June 30th; $55 after June 30th)

8. Once you receive your "Approved" status you will be given a "ticket". The ticket will show the coaches' name, his/her Approval Number, the date you applied for your BBCS application and the years the application is good for. **This is not the same as the payment receipt you received after paying for the background check.

9. Print this ticket as you will need to provide a copy of this ticket to AAS Nationals along with your teams' birth certificates and report cards. Questions about the NCAA LexisNexis site? Call the NCAA Support Team at 866-777-1979.

2. Team Certification & Approval registration with BBCS -

•   Go to http://aasbasketball.com/

•   Click on "2012 National Championship"

•   Click on "NCAA Compliance"

•   Click on "NCAA Basketball Certification System"

•   If you have not logged in before you will need to choose "New Coach Admin"
◦   Make a note of your Username & Password; you will need this information several times in the future!

•   If you have logged in before enter your Username & Password.
◦   If you do not remember your Username & Password click on Recover Username & Password and it will email your information to the email address you specified when you registered.

•   Click on "Create Team" and answer required questions. Click Save.

•   Choose "Edit Assistant Coaches"; add each assistant coach's name. They will not be allowed to sit on the bench if they are not in the system and certified. Click Save.

•   Click on "Edit Athletes". Click "Add Athletes" button and repeat for each athlete. Click Save.
◦   You will need athlete's home address, phone number and school information. An athlete may not have the same address or phone number as the coach or another athlete unless they physically live together.

•   Click "Choose Team Events". You will then be directed to a page that includes all NCAA approved events. Select the box for the either the PrimeTime Sports Nationals Championship Womens or Mens event. If you do not click the AAS Nationals event you will not be officially registered through the NCAA.

•   Click Save. If you do not save the information you will not be registered for the PrimeTime event.
